DoggyLand

This is a commission for Graphic Classics, the publisher of comics adaptations of the classic literature. I'm very happy to be a guest artist on their upcoming volume dedicated to cat & dog stories. In a way, this is a companion piece to my earlier KittyLand illustration, which is also going to be featured in the same volume of Graphic Classics.

Here's a commission for a cartoonist/artist driven website for children designed by Elana Pritchard. She asked me to be one of the guest artists for her project that looks really interesting and promising. The website is currently under construction, and I'll post the link as soon as it's completed.

A Dream Within A Dream

Can you believe it, a new blog post after such a long time... So, what a strange landscape we got here?



This is the CD cover I drew for the Croatian rock band "Kendosi". They approached me to do the artwork and complete art direction for their first album, so I made a series of six illustrations for the CD booklet and a special drawing for the front side of the disc.



The band's music has been inspired by the '70s progressive rock (filtered through the modern pop sensibility), so I tried to do something in the vein of early '70s album artwork and covers, especially the works of Roger Dean. The whole CD booklet will resemble a children's storybook, with illustrations that follow the storyline of the album and lyrics.

This particular picture is presented here in a different form. In the cd booklet, the song lyrics are inserted over some parts of the image:



So, what is she looking at? I won't show you the whole picture... this is just a preview and a teaser. You'll have to buy the CD (that will be out in a couple of months) to see the final version and the rest of the artwork :)



Again, a special thanks goes to Antea Ratković (miss AntRat), who collaborated closely on this project. She gave many great suggestions and advice, and designed some of the characters, including the main human character (a little girl) from my sketches and poses.

Fire and Water

Here's a preview from a new project started recently in collaboration with miss AntRat. We're creating a children's book, and this is one of the 20 planned illustrations:

It's not the final version of the drawing, and each picture in the book will contain some additional surprises in the form of multiple layers and removable bits on the page.

I tried to be faithful to the original look of main characters (perhaps this could pass as an official cover for a Garfield comic book), while still doing them in my style, with enough of my own idiosyncrasies and odd bits.

Skadi x2

A double portion of Skadi fan art!
Actually, I'm cheating... these are two versions of (nearly) the same drawing, and they're both interesting in a different way. The first one has full and detailed backgrounds, plus an extra character. I'd perhaps give a slight nod of preference to the other version with Skadi alone, because I like the way the character stands out on a simple and less cluttered background. Plus, the lack of her sidekick Diseasoid might imply that she's actually eating his meat :)

A Radio Picture

Here's a commission for RyeBread Radio, a Chicago-based Performing Arts radio show. A show host, Akeem Lawanson has contacted me recently upon a recommendation from one of their listeners, to do a caricature illustration of all three RyeBread Radio members. And the final result is...

And speaking of commissions... here's a brand new music video / short film by Ivan Perić and me. We've been asked to make a video for song "Aerial Assasins" by Grof Bakula feat. Da Commission.

And this is the whole epic 10-minute monster, with special intro (the music used for the first half is "Kult of Red Pyramid: Half-life"):



If you have fast internet connection, I recommend you to watch both videos in HD quality. The shooting and editing of this video was really enjoyable experience (though occasionally a little bit frustrating), and it was a good training for our next feature length project. Also, during the last month, our feature film from 2010 called "The Place Where The Last Man Died" received a nomination for the best foreign film at Swansea Bay Film Festival. It was also screened at SFeraKon, Croatia's annual Science Fiction festival.

Regarding the news about "The Place Where The Last Man Died" - the film has been successfully shown on several festivals in Croatia and around the world, with more screenings to come soon.
